Committed to giving back to the city in which it continues to thrive as a business, Senate Realty hosts quarterly fundraisers with DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative named the ART BUZZ. The events feature works from local artists with a portion of proceeds from the evening benefiting the DC Collaborative, an arts program serving DC public schools.
"From the first day we started Senate Realty we wanted to be innovative and untraditional in our approach to business," said Cher Castillo Freeman, managing partner, Senate Realty Corporation. "Two years ago, Senate thought hosting a fundraiser to help local children learn and grow through the arts, which our clients could attend, was a unique way to give back to the community," added Castillo Freeman.
Featured artists have included Lisa Jones, Darel Dawson, Cherie Lester, Anna U Davis, James Stephen Terrell and Susan Finsen and 10% of the profits from works sold that evening will be donated to the DC Collaborative's Arts for Every Student Program (AFES).
Founded in 1998, the DC Collaborative has provided more than 200,000 students from 145 DC public and chartered public schools with access to cultural events throughout the District. Students receive free transportation and tickets to museums, musical, theatrical, and dance productions and other humanities events throughout the city. During the 2006-2007 school year, more than 31,000 students and teachers visited cultural institutions through the Art's for Every Student program.
